USJ Macao participated at the FUTURÁLIA Education Fair 2025, solidifying the multi-domain cooperation network in higher education in Portugal.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao proudly participated in the FUTURÁLIA Education Fair held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 26 to 29 March, 2025. This event provided a platform for USJ to showcase its dynamic educational atmosphere, comprehensive academic offerings, and vibrant student life.
Since 2023, USJ Macao has been committed to participating in FUTURÁLIA, setting up an independent booth for the third consecutive year. As one of Macao’s premier higher education institutions, USJ also joined the “Macao Session” consortium booth organized by the Education Youth and Development Bureau (DSEDJ), alongside other distinguished higher education institutions from the Macao SAR.
The FUTURÁLIA Education Fair attracted a vibrant crowd, including pre-university and junior students eager to explore higher education opportunities, both locally and abroad. Groups of ninth-grade students, accompanied by professors and counselors, sought guidance to inform their specialization choices prior to entering grade ten. Meanwhile, eleventh and twelfth graders expressed interest in internship and employment prospects in Macao after completing their undergraduate degrees. USJ Macao also presented in the Post-graduate and Executive Pavilion this year, dedicated to Master’s, Doctoral, and Executive Training programs.
Leading the delegation was Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, Professor Álvaro Barbosa, accompanied by Mr. Francisco Peixoto, Head of Delegation in Portugal, and the International Affairs Office team, including Office Head Mrs. Ana Paula Mota and member Ms. Teresinha Fok. Adding a personal touch, USJ alumnus Mr. Martinho Domingos shared his enriching academic and campus life experiences with attendees.
In conjunction with the FUTURÁLIA Education Fair, USJ Macao participated in the DSEDJ-led delegation alongside leaders from five other Macao higher education institutions and met with Prof. Jónatas Machado, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Coimbra, and Rector Hermínia Vasconcelos Vilar at the University of Évora. Discussions focused on fostering academic collaboration, facilitating faculty and student exchanges, and exploring joint research initiatives. The delegation also visited Tagus Park, engaging with Mr. Eduardo Baptista Correia to examine Portugal’s educational model, which effectively aligns with industry needs.
Furthermore, to support Macau students studying abroad, the delegation joined in discussions with Macao students studying in Portugal, held in Porto and Lisbon, to gain insights into their academic experiences, adaptation to local life, and career planning.
Overall, USJ’s participation in the delegation contributed to solidifying the multi-domain cooperation network between higher education institutions in Macau and Portugal. USJ expresses gratitude to the Education Youth and Development Bureau (DSEDJ) for the opportunity to represent one of Macao SAR’s leading institutions at the FUTURÁLIA Education Fair and during all promotional activities.
