USJ Macao participate in the "17th AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum on Health and 9th Allied Health Sciences Symposium (AHSS)" and signed a MoU with Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), Philippines

The MoU signifies a shared vision between USJ Macao and SISC to advance healthcare education and research capabilities.



The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao, member of the Association of the Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), participated in the “17th AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum on Health and 9th Allied Health Sciences Symposium (AHSS)” from May 9 to 10, 2024. In the same time, the Rector of USJ and elected member of the Executive Board of AUAP, Rev. Prof Stephen Morgan, attended the 55th AUAP Executive Board Meeting hosted by Daegu Health College (DHC) in Daegu City, South Korea, and the 53rd Daegu Health College Anniversary Celebration.

The USJ Macao delegation, led by the Rector, Rev. Prof Stephen Morgan, included the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof Jacky Ho, and the Manager of the International Affairs Office, Mrs Ana Paula Mota, attended the opening ceremony of the Forum and its sessions of on various healthcare topics such as “Integration AI and Technology into Higher Education Curriculum”, Planetary Health: A Call to Action”, “Emerging Technological Paradigms in Human Health Life and the Evolutionary Trends”, “Level of Implementation of the Revised Technical Guidelines for Implementing DOTS Strategy in Jails and Prisons”, “AI-Power Healthcare: Bridging Gaps, Achieving SDGs” and more. 

During the Forum and the 53rd DHC Anniversary Celebration, participants’ institutions had the opportunity to formalise their partnership through a signing ceremony, which took place on May 10, 2024. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between USJ Macao, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Jacky Ho, and Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), represented by its President Prof. Jocelyn Tizon.

This MoU signifies a shared vision between USJ Macao and SISC to advance healthcare education and research capabilities. With a particular focus on mental healthcare, the collaboration aims to pool resources, expertise, and academic excellence to foster innovations that can significantly improve healthcare delivery and mental health services. Both institutions are committed to creating a future where quality healthcare education and research serve as cornerstones for healthier, more resilient communities.
