The University of Saint Joseph Macao (USJ Macao) recently welcomed a visit from Professor Josimar Souza Costa, the Coordinator of the Business Administration program at the University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR) in Brazil. The visit took place from June 14 to June 22, 2024, aimed to further enhance the existing cooperation between the two institutions, builded on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2017.

During the visit, Professor Josimar Souza Costa was warmly greeted by the USJ Macao representatives, including Professor Adérito Fernandes Marcos, the Dean of the Doctoral School; Professor Alexandre Lobo, Head of the Department of Business Administration; Professor Alessandro Lampo, Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Business Administration; Mrs. Ana Paula Mota, Manager of the International Affairs Office and Professor Felipe Chibas Ortiz, Associate Professor.

The meetings focused on establishing a dual degree program in the MBA, allowing students from UNIFOR to spend a year studying at USJ Macao and vice-versa. The universities also discussed concrete steps to integrate the BBA, MBA and PhD programs, firstly in Business, and explored possibilities for research and extension activities between the two institutions. This visit represents a continuation of the partnership initiated through the MoU signed between USJ Macao and UNIFOR in 2017, which aimed to promote the exchange of students, staff, faculty, and researchers, as well as the implementation of joint research projects and the organization of cultural and scientific events.

During his stay, Professor Josimar Souza Costa had the opportunity to tour the USJ Macao Ilha Verde campus, including the Sound Lab, Fashion Design Studio, Media Lab, Design Studio, Architecture Studio, Fabrication Lab, Adelson Foundation Audio Visual Studio, and the Laboratory of Applied Neurosciences, as well as the N.A.P.E campus.

This visit is an important step in the ongoing collaboration between USJ Macao and UNIFOR, and the discussions held during the week-long stay are expected to lead to the development of new initiatives and partnerships between the two institutions.
