USJ held the USJ Support Station to help students maintain a good study-life balance. The campuses-wide event offered snacks, drinks, a message board and stress relief tips to help students stay in good mental health during exams.

In order to encourage students to maintain a good study-life balance, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) organised the USJ Support Station on two consecutive days, spreading positive vibes and cultivating a supportive learning environment on campus. Throughout the event, staff from the Office for Student and Alumni Affairs (OSAA) distributed beverages and snacks across the university’s various campuses, featuring a Boost Message Board and Stress Relief E-Tips. The aim was to construct an interactive platform through the event, focusing on students’ mental health changes, understanding their learning needs, and providing more tailored support.

The event took place from 19 to 20 November at the Ilha Verde Campus, Nape Campus and Seminary Campus, attracting over a hundred students, creating a lively atmosphere. The Boost Message Board allowed students to support each other during the exam preparation period, encouraging each other to push forward. Students and staff from different nationalities used their native languages to cheer each other on, facing the exam challenges together. Additionally, the event introduced the Stress Relief E-Tips, offering various practical stress-relief techniques and suggestions to help students maintain a healthy mental state and confidently face exams.

A year-one student from the Philippines studying in the Faculty of Business and Law expressed feeling supported and cared for during the event. She believed that coffee and snacks helped alleviate nervousness. She also shared her learning experiences with classmates during the event, encouraging each other. She wished that similar activities could be arranged in the future, enabling students to build friendships and grow together in a relaxed atmosphere.

A local graduate student from the School of Education participating in the event mentioned that the practical information of the Stress Relief E-Tips was very helpful for students in dealing with nervousness. She noted that this information not only provided effective relaxation techniques but also taught students how to stay calm under pressure. This helped her better manage her emotions when facing academic pressure, enabling her to move forward continuously.

Best wishes to all exam candidates for achieving their desired results.
Believe in yourselves and keep persevering!
Let’s support each other in our academic pursuits!
