This year, the festival highlighted the remarkable achievement of Bryan Garcia and Vitória Santos, two talented students from USJ’s Bachelor of Communication and Media Programme.

On September 24, Prof. José Manuel Simões, Coordinator of the Master of Communication and Media Programme at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), served as a moderator at a roundtable discussion featuring filmmakers during DOCLisboa23 (DOCLX23). This event was an extension to the XXI Doclisboa International Film Festival, organised by IPOR Macau. It was held at the Dr. Stanley Ho Auditorium at the Consulate-General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong.

This year, the festival highlighted the remarkable achievement of Bryan Garcia and Vitória Santos, two talented students from USJ’s Bachelor of Communication and Media Programme. Vitoria was honoured with the Macau Cultural Identity Award at the Macau International Short Film Festival for her documentary, “Flowers for My Mother.” This impactful film sheds light on the often-overlooked community of domestic helpers in Macau and served as her final graduation project.

As we celebrate the achievements of USJ students, the University remains dedicated to nurturing future talent in communication and media, empowering students with story-telling skills that resonate across cultures and communities.
