USJ Macao participated in the 2025 Macao Green Week Carnival, joining hands with the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) to promote environmental awareness and sustainability!
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) proudly participate in the Macao Green Week Carnival, joining hands with the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Held on the 15th – 16th March 2025, the event provided an opportunity for the Institute of Science and Environment (ISE) of USJ to showcase its green initiatives and promote awareness of key environmental issues.
Despite heavy rain on the first day, visitors remained enthusiastic, embracing the weather as part of nature’s rhythm. The second day brought clearer skies, allowing even more participants to engage with USJ-ISE’s interactive booth.
Coordinated by Prof. Karen Tagulao, with support from USJ-library, Life and Science students from Design and Architecture, Communications and Media, and School of Education, student ambassadors from various faculties, and ISE staff and students, the booth featured engaging displays on:
Wetlands and Mangrove Conservation – Showcasing the importance of coastal ecosystems.
Microorganisms and Freshwater Ecosystems – Exploring microalgae
Marine Sustainability – Promoting the importance of ocean conservation
Through games, exhibits, and expert insights, visitors of all ages had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of ecosystems and sustainability challenges.
The positive response to this year’s Green Week Carnival reflects the community’s growing dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Under the theme “Passing on the Love of Nature to Build a Beautiful City Together”, the event successfully promoted the values of conservation and ecological stewardship.
A special thank you to the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) for the invitation, and to all visitors who joined us in celebrating sustainability. We look forward to continuing this journey towards a greener, more sustainable Macao!
