USJ Signed Magna Charta Universitatum at the University of Bologna

The Rector attended the signing of the Magna Charta Universitatum 2020 at the University of Bologna on 16th September, 2022.
On 16th September, 2022, the Rector of University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Rev. Professor Stephen Morgan attended the signing of the Magna Charta Universitatum 2020 at the University of Bologna in Italy, the mother of university (founded in 1088 as the oldest university in the world).
The charter signing ceremony was witnessed by Professor Giovanni Molari, the Rector of the University of Bologna and Professor Patrick Deane, the President of the Magna Charta Observatory, the Vice Chancellor of the Queen’s University Ontario, Canada. Rev. Professor Stephen Morgan pledged USJ to uphold the highest standards of academic freedom and autonomy together with 60 rectors of the universities across the world.
There are now 985 signatories to the charter including Peking University, Tsinghua University, and the Catholic University of Portugal. University of Saint Joseph is the only pledged university in the region.
