USJ’s Department of Social Work actively participated in the 55th Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar raising a total of MOP 32,860 for community welfare and social support.
The 55th Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar took place on November 2-3, 2024, at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre, successfully raising funds to support Caritas’s charitable initiatives in Macao reinforcing the organisation’s ongoing commitment to community welfare and social support.
The University of Saint Joseph’s (USJ) Department of Social Work actively participated by managing a booth at the Bazaar, providing students with an opportunity to engage in charitable work while showcasing their teamwork spirit.
Coordinated by students from the Department of Social Work, the two-day event was marked by enthusiasm and responsibility. Both students and faculty demonstrated exceptional collaboration, contributing their efforts to the cause. The participation was further bolstered by generous sponsorship from the Association for Interactive Entertainment Industry of Macao, which was greatly appreciated.
The Faculty of Health Sciences at USJ is dedicated to supporting student involvement in community activities. This initiative fosters a sense of social responsibility and provides practical experience in organising events, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of social work.
The charity bazaar raised a total of MOP 32,860, with student representatives presenting the proceeds to Paul Pun, Executive Director of Caritas Macau. This gesture reflects the students’ commitment to supporting charitable efforts and their active role in promoting community welfare.
