The 9th AUAP-PIM Global Leadership Program, organised by the Association of Universities in Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 11 to 15. The five-day event was themed “Rethink, Relearn, Reskill” and it brought together nearly thirty university students for learning and discussions.
Jiang Taosheng, a second-year student in the Master Programme of Environmental Sciences and Management (MESM) at the Institute of Science and Environment (ISE) represented the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in this programme. The aim of this event was to provide participants with new perspectives and ways of thinking through multicultural exchanges. Through practical team tasks, the participants got to apply the theories learned in lectures, such as leadership skills and public speaking, deepening their understanding of different concepts.
The programme featured specialised lectures and discussions that delved into topics like innovative skills, entrepreneurial spirit, career development, and major challenges in global society.
Jason remarked, “The programme did not only enhanced my professional skills but also strengthened my cross-cultural communication abilities. I learned how to collaborate more effectively in diverse teams, which is extremely valuable for my future career and personal development.” He also believed that through a variety of lectures and activities during the journey, he was able to enhance his understanding of global leadership. Specifically, he gained insights into the importance of inclusive thinking, innovation in higher education, self-awareness and teamwork, as well as the role of leadership in modern society, thereby deepening his awareness of the concept of global leadership.
