USJ Warmly Received the Delegation of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee's United Front Work Department and Civil Religion Bureau

A delegation from the United Front Work Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and the Civil Religion Bureau visited the University of Saint Joseph’s Ilha Verde Campus.



A delegation from the United Front Work Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and the Civil Religion Bureau visited the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Ilha Verde Campus on the 5th of June.

The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector of USJ, Fr. Cyril Law, Dean of the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy, Prof. Rochelle Ge, Dean of the School of Education, Mr. Benedict Keith Ip, Director of the Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony, as well as a group of USJ students and faculty members.

During the visit, the delegation enjoyed a guided tour to USJ’s facilities including the audio-visual and photography studio of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, where they enjoyed the performances by USJ’s international students, followed by the exhibition hall and sports facilities on campus. Fr. Cyril Law introduced to the Holy Cross Chapel to the guests, while Prof. José Simões, Head of the Department of Media, Arts and Technology, gave a presentation about the ongoing graduation exhibition “MOVIEMENT” of undergraduate students of Media and Communication.

Representatives of USJ gave an overview of the current developments of the university to the delegation and concluded the meeting with the exchange of souvenirs and a group photo.

The Shanghai delegation comprised of Miss Wang Jue, Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Party Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, Mr Yin Du, Director of the Office of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, Mr Zang Yanhao, Director of the Personnel Department, Ms Deng Ruohua, Director of the Department of Policies and Laws, Ms Ding Mengjie, Grade 4 Researcher of the Department of Catholicism, and Mr Wang Weiqiu, Grade 1 Officer of the Department of Buddhism and Taoism.
