USJ welcomes Bishop Lee and thanks Bishop Lai
The University of Saint Joseph extends its heartfelt welcome to Bishop Stephen Lee, appointed, last Saturday, to head the Diocese of Macao. He now becomes the President of the Catholic Foundation for Higher Education, our title-holder, and we look forward to working closely with him to ensure the quality of the service we provide. With his extensive experience of university life, we believe Bishop Lee will help us adjust to the developing aims of the diocese and to the needs of society.
We take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Bishop Lai, as he steps down, for his support and supervision of the university for more than a decade. He has been a familiar figure with USJ since Prof. João Lourenço was its first Rector, and we have grown accustomed to his discreet but unfailing presence in all of USJ’s community masses, graduations and other significant events. We will always consider him a Friend of USJ.
