The Award Ceremony and Exhibition Opening of this year’s Macau Architectural Photography Competition took place at Ponte 9 – Creative Platform, on the afternoon of July 13th, 2024.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Saint Joseph was a partner of the third edition of the Macau Architectural Photography Competition, organised by CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism. This year’s competition challenged photography enthusiasts to embark on a journey to rediscover Macau, its buildings and spaces, seeking evidence of Contrast in architecture.
This year’s edition had two categories – open group and student group – and received 339 submissions from 144 participants. All entries were evaluated by a panel of experienced judges who selected the best photographs for this year’s theme, considering their artistic and technical quality and originality of vision.
Ar. Nuno Soares, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design of the FAH at USJ and President of the Board of CURB, handed out the awards for the Open Group winners. Prof. Carlos Sena Caires, Dean of the FAH at USJ, was present to give the certificates and prizes to the Student Group awardees.
Wong Ka Long, a student of the Bachelor of Design at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at USJ, has won a honourable mention in the student group category with his photograph entitled “JUNE, Edifício do Lago”.
The “Macau Architectural Photography Competition” is an event organised by CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism with the sponsorship of the Cultural Development Fund and support of the University of Saint Joseph, Architects Association of Macau and Ponte 9 Creative Platform.
The Exhibition is open to the public until 16 August Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 19:00, at PONTE 9 – Creative Platform 九號碼頭, Rua das Lorchas Ponte No.9 – 3/F.
All the winning entries of this year’s edition, as well as the 2023 and 2022 winning entries of the Macau Architectural Photography Competitions, are available on the competition website and CURB’s Facebook and Instagram platforms.
