USJ’s Faculty of Business and Law Signs MoU with S.O. Idea to Enhance Student Opportunities in Macao’s MICE Industry

The Faculty of Business and Law of USJ and S.O. Idea signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise a partnership that provides Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students with internship opportunities.



On December 16, 2024, the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and S.O. Idea, a leading convention and exhibition consulting company in Macao, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise a partnership that provides Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students with internship opportunities. This collaboration is set to enhance student professional growth and offers staff training and development to contribute to Macao’s community’s growth.

The signing ceremony was held at the USJ Ilha Verde Campus. Prof. Jenny Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, signed on behalf of FBL, while Grant Lou, General Manager of S.O. Idea, signed on behalf of the company.

At the event, Jenny Phillips emphasised the significance of the MoU: “This partnership reflects our commitment to providing students with opportunities to apply their academic knowledge in real-world contexts.” Prof. Alessandro Lampo, the BBA Coordinator, highlighted how the collaboration underscores Macao’s role as a hub for the MICE industry: “The regional economy heavily relies on this sector, and this partnership prepares students with the skills and experiences to excel in the field.

Grant Lou of S.O. Idea shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, focusing on its broader impact: “This collaboration is not only about internships; it’s about fostering a stronger community, diversifying the local economy, and contributing to Macao’s future.

This initiative exemplifies the ongoing efforts of the BBA programme to establish meaningful partnerships with industry leaders and underscores the faculty’s commitment to student success and community development.
