Prof. Nuno Soares, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design, participated as a jury in the “International Student Competition Architectural Design and Construction of Bamboo 2023”.
On 7 October 2023, the winners of the Indonesia division for the “International Student Competition Architectural Design and Construction of Bamboo 2023” were announced, an event where Prof. Nuno Soares, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design of Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), participated as a jury.
Under the theme Bamboo Swing Game, the competition was co-organized by the South China University of Technology, Nansha Bird Park, in Guangzhou, and Warmadewa University.
The two 1st prize-winning projects of the Indonesia preliminary round, “Motus Rotan” and “Maporos”, from Universitas Islam Indonesia and Warmadewa University, respectively, will have the opportunity to participate in the final international competition – 6th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area-Asean International University Bamboo Design and Construction Competition – where the winners will have the chance to build the structure at Nansha Birdpark, in Guangzhou, and compete with the finalists from other universities.
Prof. Nuno Soares has participated as a Jury in the Thailand preliminary round, where the winners were announced on October 6, and will be part of the Jury panel of the Malaysian preliminary round, which will announce the winners in November 2023.
