Vice-Rector Prof. Zhang Shuguang Delivers Keynote Speech at the "1st China-Timor-Leste Cooperation and Development International Seminar and the Forum on the Development of Timor-Leste and Its Relations with Major Powers"

The University of Saint Joseph was invited to attend the “1st China-Timor-Leste Cooperation and Development International Seminar and the Forum on the Development of Timor-Leste and Its Relations with Major Powers”.



The 1st China-Timor-Leste Cooperation and Development International Seminar and the Forum on the Development of Timor-Leste and Its Relations with Major Powers, hosted by South China Normal University, was held on the 2nd of December 2024. Vice-rector for External Affairs and Institutional Development of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Prof. Zhang Shuguang, was invited to represent the university to attend the forum and delivered a keynote speech.

This conference brought together many experts, scholars, and political and business elites from all over the world who are concerned about the development of Timor-Leste. They conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the current situation and future prospects of Timor-Leste’s development in fields such as politics, economy, culture, and education. As a representative of the higher education community in the Macao region, Vice-Rector Zhang shared the experiences and achievements of USJ in the process of educational internationalisation in his speech. He also specifically mentioned the search for and development of potential cooperation opportunities with Timor-Leste in the field of education. He emphasised that by strengthening interaction and resource sharing at the higher education level, it can inject strong impetus into talent cultivation, cultural integration, and overall regional development in both places.

Vice-rector Zhang’s speech demonstrated the active attitude of USJ in regional international exchange and cooperation. It also built an effective communication bridge for further promoting in-depth cooperation between the Macao Special Administrative Region and Timor-Leste in aspects such as higher education. It is expected to generate more substantive cooperation projects and achievements in the future, helping all parties to move forward hand in hand and jointly write a new chapter in regional cooperation and development.
