Institute of Science and Environment


Created in 2014, the Institute of Science and Environment is an academic unit of the University of Saint Joseph. The mission of the Institute is centred around four axes: Research, Teaching, Community, and Internationalization. The Institute provides a dynamic, engaging and international learning environment in Macao where students and researchers can actively contribute to scientific progress while developing as skilled professionals and responsible citizens.

Institute for Data Science and Engineering


The Institute for Data Engineering and Sciences (IDEAS) at USJ pursues our core mission of teaching, training, and research, in the interest of the public good through specialized domain knowledge in smart elderly care, business analytics, financial technology (Fintech), smart tourism, health informatics, and smart city technology, etc. We use and teach data analytics and artificial intelligence for the development and benefit of society.

Domingos Lam Centre for Research in Education


The Domingos Lam Centre for Research in Education, created in June 2019, operates as a self-supporting body housed within the University of Saint Joseph. DLCRE conducts and disseminates rigorous research that supports educators and community stakeholders with evidence that can make an impact on policy and practice.

Cultural Sustainability Lab


Cultural Sustainability Lab is a multidisciplinary hub for education and research on the issues related to cultural sustainability in Macau and wider Greater Bay Area. The aim is to foster research on the integral human development of Macau in the context of its connections with the East, Southeast and South Asian regions, and with the West.

Macao Observatory for Social Development


As life expectancy continues to rise, many of us can look forward to living well into our 80s, but this can also lead to new stresses, especially for those who do not have loved ones around to help when everyday tasks become difficult. The USJ Macao Observatory for Social Development provides a variety of health education and wellness services that are of great importance to our community.

Laboratory of Applied Neurosciences


The Laboratory of Applied Neurosciences (LAN/USJ) is an applied research lab at the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) that addresses emerging topics in the intersection of neurosciences, marketing, business and other related areas, such as stress, learning and professional development. The main objective of the LAN/USJ is to create a multimodal technological infrastructure to support different research projects (postgraduate and undergraduate) from any academic unit from the University.
