Graduation ceremonies are amongst my favourite moments of the year as Rector. To see all the hard work, determination and (sometimes) pain, turned into almost unbounded joy, as the accomplishments of our students are formally recognised is always deeply moving. It is of vital importance that the entire University community – staff, students, alumni, donors, honoured guests – gathers to celebrate the achievement, the passage from student to graduate of those who are the central subjects of our entire effort. 

Our year at USJ has not been entirely without sadness, however. Only last week, we were brought to tears by the death of one of our Master students. I ask you to remember, to pray for the soul of Erilson and that his family receive every consolation in their grief.

Today’s ceremony reflects the enduring mission of USJ and its commitment to fostering genuine human flourishing and serving as an institution deeply rooted in Macao and China, while engaging with the global academic community. Our dual commitment—to the advancement of knowledge and to the human development of the individual—remains central to all we do.  Today, we celebrate not only the individual accomplishments of our graduates—great though those are—but also the values of intellectual rigour, ethical engagement, and service to the common good that underpin true success. These values are especially vital in a world that increasingly requires leaders of vision and integrity, equipped not only to navigate complexity but to shape it for the benefit of others. 

It is also my particular privilege to highlight the achievements of two individuals who have made exceptional contributions to society and whose work embodies these principles: His Eminence John Cardinal Tong and Mr K K Yeung, whose lives have been marked by quite exceptional service to society.

I want first to address remarks to today’s Masters and Doctoral Graduates: for you today marks the culmination of years of dedication, inquiry, and perseverance. Earning a Masters or Doctoral degree represents intellectual accomplishment and a commitment to deepening understanding, together with making a contribution to the advancement of knowledge. At USJ, however, such achievement is always informed by a broader mission: the pursuit of truth, the promotion of harmony and the respect for the dignity of all people.  

To our Masters graduates, your studies have prepared you to contribute to society with specialised knowledge and a capacity for critical engagement. Whether in professional practice, leadership roles, or continued academic pursuits, your advanced education equips you to address the complexities of the contemporary world with both competence and purpose. I know that you will build upon your post-graduate level expertise increasingly to assume positions of leadership and responsibility.

Doctoral graduates, you have reached the highest level of academic achievement, producing original research that advances scholarship in a wide range of fields. Your work reflects not only intellectual rigour but also the creative and collaborative spirit that is essential for addressing the pressing challenges of our time. I know just how hard you have worked, and I know that the quality of your theses is, as one of our external examiners commented, simply as good as they get. For a university of our size to be producing world-class doctoral research is no small thing. It is something of which we are immensely and justifiably proud. As you leave USJ, you carry the responsibility to ensure that the knowledge you have generated serves not only the academic community but also broader society.  

To all of you, I want to encourage you to reflect on the responsibility that accompanies your education. Knowledge is not only an end in itself; it must also be placed at the service of others, particularly those most in need. The foundation of your studies here has been shaped by the values of service, humility, and solidarity—values that will guide you as you face the challenges and opportunities ahead. In our increasingly interconnected world, you are called to be leaders who engage with others across disciplines, cultures, and perspectives. Whether you remain in Macao, contribute to the future of China, or take your place in the global community, remember that true leadership is rooted in the truth, in dialogue, collaboration, and a commitment to the common good.  

Graduates, as we celebrate your achievements, I urge you to consider how the knowledge and skills you have gained here might be applied in the service of others. The world does not lack for challenges, and you are now equipped to meet them with the intellectual tools and moral compass developed during your time at this university.  

Remember that your education is both a privilege and a responsibility. As you contribute to your professions, communities, and the wider world, remain mindful of the values instilled in you here: a commitment to truth, an openness to dialogue, and a respect for the dignity of all. These principles are not merely aspirations; they are the foundation of a life lived in service to the common good.

Today, we also have the honour and pleasure of awarding honorary doctorates to two individuals whose lives and work are examples of the kind of spirit of integrity, industry and selfless generosity we want to inculcate in the graduates of our university.  

The first honorary degree is conferred upon His Eminence John Cardinal Tong, whose life of priestly service and genuine scholarly wisdom marks him out. Cardinal Tong has dedicated himself to fostering understanding between cultures and faiths, working tirelessly to build bridges where others might see divides. His ministry has been marked by a deep commitment to the Lord, and to the promotion of peace and reconciliation. His leadership of the Church has enriched both the Church and society. His example serves as a reminder of the enduring importance of compassion, wisdom, and moral clarity in a world often marked by the lack of these things. The Church has need of pastors in his mould and the world has desperate need of witness to Jesus Christ who combine wisdom and prudence, gentleness and courage.

The second honorary degree, that of Doctor of Business Administration honoris causa, is conferred upon Mr K K Yeung. It is no exaggeration to say that he represents the very best of professional and business leadership in this part of the world. His business acumen with a commitment to social responsibility, K K has exemplified how enterprise and professional practice can be a genuine force for good. He has used his own good fortune, his genial good humour, his ready ability to turn connections into friends to build a network of people who put their time, talents and treasure to work for the poorest, the most marginalised in society. We can all learn from his example.

USJ is honoured to recognise these two outstanding individuals. Their achievements remind us of the transformative potential of knowledge, faith, and leadership when directed toward the service of others.  

Finally, I want to end on a personal note. Over the last five years, the Madam Ao Ieung, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture has been the most enormous supporter of USJ. She has championed our cause here in Macao and with the Central People’s Government. On behalf of the whole university, I want to thank you, Madam Secretary for all that you have done for us and to wish you well as you take up your new role.

畢業典禮是我作為校長最喜歡的時刻之一。看到所有的努力、決心和（有時）痛苦，轉化成幾乎無限的喜悅，學生的成就得到正式認可，總是令人感動。整個大學社群 — 教職員、學生、校友、捐贈者、嘉賓 — 聚首一堂，慶祝我們所有努力的核心對象從學生到畢業生所取得的成就，是極為重要的。

今天的典禮充分體現出聖若瑟大學的核心使命——促進人類的真正繁榮發展，並成為一所深深植根於澳門和中國的學府，同時積極參與全球學術交流。我們對知識的推動和對個人全面發展的雙重承諾，始終是我們所有工作的核心。在今天，我們不僅慶祝畢業生們的個人成就——儘管它們非同尋常——還慶祝支撐真正成功的那些價值觀：知識的嚴謹性、道德的承擔，以及對公共福祉的服務。在當今這個越來越需要具備遠見和誠信的領袖的世界，這些價值尤為重要——領袖不僅要具備能力駕馭複雜性，還要有造福他人的能力。我尤其感到榮幸的是，能夠表彰兩位對社會作出非凡貢獻的傑出人士，他們的工作完美體現了這些價值觀：湯漢樞機主教和楊國琦先生，他們的一生都為社會作出卓越的貢獻。

首先，我想向碩士和博士畢業生說幾句話：今天標誌著你們多年來投入、探索和堅韌不拔的努力達到了高峰。獲得碩士或博士學位不僅代表著學術成就，還體現了你們對深化理解和推動知識進步的承諾。然而，在聖大，這類成就總意味著更廣泛的使命：追求真理、促進和諧以及尊重所有人的尊嚴。

碩士畢業生，你們的學習讓你們裝備好專業知識和批判性思考的能力，能夠為社會作出貢獻。無論是在專業實踐、領導角色還是繼續學術深造，你們接受的高等教育都讓你們有能力且有目的性地處理當代世界的複雜問題。我相信，你們將在研究生階段的基礎上不斷發展，逐漸承擔更多的領導職務和責任。

博士畢業生，你們的學術成就已達到最高水平，你們的原創研究成果推動了各個領域的學術發展。你們的工作不僅體現了學術嚴謹性，還展現了在應對當前迫切挑戰所不可或缺的創造性和協作精神。我知道你們有多努力，也知道你們的論文質量，正如我們的一位校外審查員所評論的，簡直是無與倫比。對於我們這種規模的大學來說，能夠產生世界級的博士研究成果絕非小事。我們有理由引以為傲。當你們離開聖大時，你們有責任確保你們所創造的知識不僅服務於學術界，也造福於更廣泛的社會。

第一個榮譽博士學位頒授予湯漢樞機主教，他以牧職服務和真正的學術智慧而聞名於世。湯樞機主教致力於促進不同文化與信仰之間的理解，孜孜不倦地在有隔閡的地方搭建橋樑。他的事工特點是對天主的全心奉獻，以及推動和平與和解。他對教會的領導豐富了教會和社會。他的榜樣提醒我們，在這個時常缺乏慈悲、智慧和道德明確性的世界中，這些德行的持久重要性。教會需要像他一樣的牧者，而世界也迫切需要結合智慧與謹慎、溫柔與勇氣的耶穌基督見證人。

第二個榮譽博士學位，是頒給楊國琦先生的工商管理榮譽博士學位。他無疑是這一地區專業和商業領導的最佳代表。他以其商業才能和對社會責任的承諾，充分展示了企業和專業實踐如何成為一股真正的向善力量。他運用自己的福氣、和藹可親的幽默感，以及隨時將人脈轉化為朋友的能力，建立起人際網路，將他們的時間、才華和財富用於服務社會上最貧窮、最邊緣化的人。我們都可以向他學習。

聖大深感榮幸能表彰這兩位傑出的個人。他們的成就提醒我們，當知識、信仰和領導力用於服務他人時，它們具有改變世界的潛力。

最後，我想以個人感受來結束這講話。過去五年來，社會文化司歐陽司長一直是聖若瑟大學最大的支持者。她在澳門和中央人民政府為本校的事業作出了貢獻。本人謹代表全校師生感謝司長為我們所做的一切，並祝願您在新崗位一切順利。

As we near the conclusion of this joyous occasion, I invite us all to take a moment to reflect on the achievements we have celebrated today and the journey that has brought us to this point.   Graduates, you stand here today as stewards of knowledge and expertise. You have gone more deeply into your chosen disciplines, mastering complex ideas and honing skills that set you apart. Your achievements are not merely personal triumphs; they represent your readiness to lead, to serve, and to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of society.  

With the privilege of your advanced degrees comes a solemn duty: to share the fruits of your learning, to inspire others, and to pass on the wisdom you have gained. Whether you do so through your professional practice, through teaching and mentoring, or through ongoing research, you are called to ensure that the light of knowledge continues to shine brightly for future generations.  

Leadership and service are not mutually exclusive; indeed, they are deeply interconnected. The world needs leaders who act with integrity and vision, but it also needs those who understand the importance of serving others. As graduates of this university, you have been equipped to do both—to lead with purpose and to serve with compassion. It is my fervent wish, my prayer that you will answer that challenge.  

None of today’s accomplishments would have been possible without the steadfast support of families, friends, colleagues, and fellow students. To the parents, siblings, spouses, children, and friends who have walked alongside our graduates, encouraging them through challenges and celebrating their successes, and on their behalf, I offer my heartfelt thanks. Your belief in their potential and your enduring care have been essential to their journey.  

The professors of USJ have been the foundation upon which the achievements of today’s graduates have been built. It is through their guidance, intellectual generosity, and unwavering commitment that knowledge has been imparted, genuine habits of scholarship fostered but also inspired a love of learning that will endure. Professors, you have challenged, encouraged, and nurtured, and in doing so, you have upheld the highest ideals of this university. On behalf of everyone gathered here, I extend the deepest gratitude to you.  

Today, we have also been privileged to honour two extraordinary individuals whose lives and work exemplify the values we hold dear. Mr. K K Yeung and His Eminence Cardinal John Tong have graced us with their presence and enriched this celebration by accepting the honorary doctorates conferred upon them.  

Mr. Yeung, your achievements in business and your commitment to ethical leadership and generous philanthropy remind us that commerce can be a powerful force for good when guided by principles of responsibility and service.  

Your Eminence Cardinal Tong, your life of pastoral care, spiritual leadership, scholarship and bridge-building has been a beacon of hope and harmony. Your dedication to fostering understanding and peace across cultures and faiths is an example for us all.  

By accepting these honorary doctorates, both of you have honoured USJ, and we are deeply grateful for the inspiration you provide to our graduates and our academic community.  

Graduates, as you move forward from this day, remember the lessons of your time here. Use your knowledge to solve problems, to uplift others, and to contribute to the common good. Lead not only with your expertise but also with humility and serve with a heart open to the needs of the world. You now join the ranks of this university’s alumni, a community bound by shared values and a commitment to making a difference. Wherever your path may lead, remember that you are part of something larger, something enduring—a university dedicated to truth, to learning, and to the service of humanity.  

As we bring this ceremony to a close, I extend my warmest congratulations once more to each of you. Go forward with confidence, wisdom, and a deep sense of purpose.

Speech by Most Rev’d Cardinal John Tong Hon, Doctor of Divinity Honoris Causa

I deeply thank Bishop Lee for recommending me to receive the honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Saint Joseph’s University. I am honored. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Diocese of Macau for nurturing my priesthood and to share my views on an ideal life.

At eighty-five, I reflect on my past with gratitude. Born in Hong Kong, I moved to Guangzhou during the Japanese occupation. The exemplary behavior of Maryknoll Fathers inspired me to join Saint Joseph’s Minor Seminary in Macau. Their generous teaching laid a solid foundation for my priesthood training in Hong Kong and Rome.

I thank God for granting me good health, allowing me to continue teaching and conducting Sunday Mass. Forty years ago, under the encouragement of Cardinal John Baptist Wu, I visited churches in mainland China, providing liturgical, Biblical, and catechetical books, and promoting unity.

Moving towards the future with hope, I trust in God and pray regularly to overcome difficulties. For over fifty years, living in the seminary, praying, and celebrating the Holy Mass with priests and seminarians has greatly enriched me.

In the second chapter of the Gospel of Saint John, we see Jesus’ first miracle at the wedding in Cana. From this miracle, we learn three things:

1. The Blessed Mother Mary is loving and compassionate, always thinking of others. We should learn from her concern for others, which can make our world a better and warmer place.
2. Trust in the Lord Jesus, as the Blessed Mother did. Her trust led to Jesus’ first miracle.
3. Faithfully follow Jesus, as the Blessed Mother did, even unto death. She can be a role model for all of us.

Dear Friends, let us encourage one another and learn from Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother. May God bless you!

湯漢樞 | 機演辭 獲頒授榮譽神學博士學位 致辭

深謝李主教推薦我接受聖若瑟大學頒授的榮譽博士學位，深感榮幸；我想藉此機會感謝澳門教區對我的司鐸聖職的栽培，以及分享我對理想人生的看法。

今年我八十五歲了。首先，我以感恩之心回顧過去。我生於香港，童年時因日本人佔領香港，遷往廣州。我目睹瑪利諾神父幫助由北方逃來的難民，親自照顧他們和為他們療傷，傳教士的善表引起我加入澳門聖若瑟小修院接受司鐸培育。我感謝澳門修院和神長的慷慨教導，以及同學陪伴成長，為我後來在香港及羅馬接受司鐸培育打好基礎。我在羅馬獲祝聖為神父，完成博士學業返回香港服務至今。

其次，滿懷熱情，活在當下。感謝天主賜我身心尚算健康，仍能繼續在修院教學，還在堂區舉行主日彌撒。記得四十年前，大陸開放，我在當時的香港主教胡振中樞機鼓勵下，多次探訪大陸教會，給他們提供禮儀、聖經及教理書籍和用品，並向他們介紹梵蒂岡第二屆大公會議思想，以及教宗如何鼓勵教會內外交談，促進合一。

最後，秉持希望，邁向將來。我們在交友處世中，必然遇到很多不同聲音，但信靠天主，時常祈禱，才不致被困難擊倒；目前，我仍然與各方友好交往。五十多年來，我一直住在修院，與修士一起祈禱，舉行聖祭，令我受益良多。

翻開聖經，讀到《若望福音》第二章，我們看到耶穌和祂的母親瑪利亞前赴加納婚宴，席間，聖母發現主人家的酒不夠，遂告訴耶穌；耶穌於是叫僕人在六個石缸中灌滿水，然後倒出來，原來水已變成酒了，這是耶穌在公開生活中所顯的第一個奇蹟。

從這奇蹟，我們看到三個特點: (一) 聖母非常有愛心和人情味，善解人意，處處為別人著想。其實，仁愛也是中國人最重視的美德，孔子、孟子均主張：「老吾老，以及人之老；幼吾幼，以及人之幼」；「四海之內皆兄弟」。耶穌更進一步教導我們愛人如己，因此，我建議在座每位都該學習聖母關懷別人，即使給同學或同事一個關懷的眼神、一個燦爛的微笑、一個溫暖的握手、一句激勵的說話，都是步武聖母的仁愛行動。當仁愛的精神散播出去，聖若瑟大學、澳門城市、甚至整個世界就會變得更美好，人間會變得更加溫暖。

(二) 學習聖母, 信靠主耶穌。人生總會遇到困難，聖母也遇到；當她看到婚宴主人家遇到缺酒的困難時，懂得找耶穌幫忙，結果她的請求使耶穌施行了變水為酒的第一個奇蹟。

 (三) 效法聖母，一生忠心跟隨耶穌，至死不渝。當耶穌為救贖世界，背十字架上山受釘，聖母寸步不離，與耶穌一起把痛苦奉獻給天主聖父。因此，聖母可說是大家的表率。

各位老師、家長及同學: 讓我們共勉，齊向耶穌基督、聖母學習。天主保佑!

Speech by Anthony Kwok-Ki Yeung, JP, Doctor of Business Administration Honoris Causa

I thank Professor Jenny Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, and Rector Professor Stephen Morgan, for recommending me to receive the honorary Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Saint Joseph. I am honored to actually become a part of this University.

My first acquaintance with Macau was through HK audit team trips to STDM for Price Waterhouse (then known as LoweBingham) way back in 1965. Then my membership in Hong Kong Shippers Council brought me in regular contacts with Macau Shippers’ Association in the late 1980/1990.

Following transfer of sovereignty of HK and Macau to China, I was invited as member of the China / Hong / Macau official delegation to take part in international meetings including the ILO meeting in Geneva and ESCAP meeting in Beijing with very close working relationship with the Macau official team.

All these have given me a very fond memory of Macau not to mention the great Macanese cuisine that attracted me to come to Macau most regularly.

I have been a friend of the University of Saint Joseph since before this campus’ construction was completed. I remembered being introduced to Bishop Lee and former Rector Fr Peter Stilwell in 2016/2017 by Monsignor Anté. We visited this campus with members from the Bosco Charity Association. I was impressed by the work USJ has been doing as, at the time, the only Catholic University in China. Given my enthusiasm for supporting Catholic Education, which was why I founded the Bosco Charity Association, we have been working closely with USJ since to support the development of the campus. With my background of 60 years in business, management, financial and accounting, I have been working especially close with the Faculty of Business and Law, being the External Advisor for the Faculty. Whether I am in Macau, Hong Kong or elsewhere, I have been following up closely with the Faculty and the University’s development with Professor Jenny and your very informative USJ Weekly Newsletter, and was happy to learn about the development of the faculty being able to receiving students from Mainland China as well as overseas.

I am proud to be an alumnus of this university, now that I have received a doctorate degree. I have full confidence in University of Saint Joseph, now also my Alma Mater, that it will continue to nurture highly responsible leaders and professionals in the future.

我要感謝校長麥侍文教授和商學及法學院院長劉鈺馨教授，推薦我獲得聖若瑟大學頒授的榮譽工商管理博士學位，我很榮幸能成為這所大學的一份子。

我第一次接觸澳門是在1965 年，當時隨香港審計團隊前往澳門旅行。後來，以香港付貨人委員會的會員身份，使我在1980 年末至 1990 年期間與澳門船務物流協會保持緊密聯繫。

隨著香港和澳門的主權移交中國，我被邀請作為中國-香港-澳門官方代表團成員，參加包括日內瓦的國際勞工組織成員國代表大會和北京的聯合國亞洲及太平洋經濟社會委員會會議等國際會議，與澳門官方團隊保持非常密切的合作關係。

所有這些都給了我對澳門非常美好的回憶，更不用說那些吸引我最常訪問澳門的本地美食。

我認為於聖若瑟大學青洲校區建成之前，我已是這所大學的朋友。我記得在2016/2017 學年Anté 修士介紹我認識李斌生主教和前校長薛沛德神父，我們與鮑思高慈善協會的成員一起參觀了這個校園。當時，聖若瑟大學是中國唯一的天主教大學，我對大學一直以來所做的工作留下了深刻的印象。由於我對支持天主教教育充滿熱情，這也是我創立鮑思高慈善協會的原因，我們自那時起就一直與聖若瑟大學密切合作，支持校園的發展。憑藉我在商業、管理、金融和會計領域 60 年的背景，我一直與商學及法學院保持緊密合作，擔任該學院的外部顧問。無論我身在澳門、香港還是其他地方，我一直與該學院和大學的發展保持緊密的溝通，透過劉鈺馨教授和資訊豐富的聖若瑟大學週報，很高興得知該學院接納來自中國大陸和海外的學生。

我很自豪成為這所大學的校友，現在我已經獲得博士學位。我對聖若瑟大學充滿信心，這也是我的母校，我相信它將繼續培養未來高度負責的領導者和專業人士。

I am Joshua 袁浩俊, a graduate of the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy this year. Over the past six years at the University of Saint Joseph, I completed both my master’s and doctoral degrees.

I received my early education from mainland China. Before I arrived in Macau at the age of 18, I had never spoken a single word of English to a foreigner, never read a philosophy book, and never imagined myself pursuing an academic path. Like most undergraduate students, my initial dream was a smooth career, followed by settling down and raising a family. Yet, I chose a different road—a road that led me to academic work.

First, I want to thank the person who inspired me to study, encouraged me to seek a deeper spiritual life, and guided and supported me along the way—a mentor who treated me like family, Fr. Domingos Un. Thank you for being with me in the past six years. Without your guidance, I would not have chosen this path of academics, nor would I have achieved the personal growth and accomplishments I have today.

Having personal growth and pursuing academic work are impossible without those who are willing to point out your mistakes—especially those who patiently stay with you, help identify the issues, and even spend time correcting them with you. In the very first year of my journey, I was fortunate to meet my thesis supervisor, who is also our beloved rector, Professor Stephen Morgan.

I still remember our first meeting six years ago. You held a red pen and corrected the two pages I had written. Nearly the entire page was marked red, even the punctuation! Six years later, when I brought my bound thesis to your office, you no longer held a red pen but a black one, ready to sign your name. After signing, you asked me, “Are you happy with that?” At that moment, I only managed to say a simple “Yes” because I didn’t know how to express the joy I felt deep in my heart. Now, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you.

It would have been easy for you to simply tell me to use Grammarly to check my English. But you didn’t. Instead, you went through my writing line by line, always asking me, “What does this mean?”

It would have been easy for you, as a rector, to focus solely on your own work. But you didn’t. Instead, you took the time to supervise me and patiently corrected every detail of my tedious philosophical writings, written and shaped by a ‘Chinese-thinking’ style.

It would have been easy for you to ignore my frustrations—both personal and academic. But you didn’t. You listened to me, encouraged me, and cheered me up. And of course, we cheered—over beers.

Thank you, Stephen, for patiently pointing out my mistakes, for accompanying me through the process, and for witnessing my growth. You are my role model for what it means to be a teacher.

The most valuable thing I gained at USJ in these past six years—and that is the core of what I want to share today—is the transformation and growth that happen through encounters and relationships with others. A university exists to nurture people, not just to chase the prestige of being a “top school.” Just as wearing a luxury brand doesn’t make someone a celebrity, true recognition comes from inner qualities.

To everyone here: if you are fortunate enough to meet someone in your life who can see your mistakes yet still chooses to accompany you on your journey of growth, cherish them. Such a person truly wills the good for you. Whether in friendship, family, or love, they are worth treasuring.

For me, it is the support of my parents that allowed me to pursue academic research without worries. I would like to say this in Chinese because it is for them. 爸爸媽媽，你哋嘅支持讓我能無後顧之憂地全身心投入學術研究。感謝你哋對我嘅愛，讓我可以任性地選擇自己熱愛的事。也感謝天主賜予我這個家庭，讓我在其中成長。

Lastly, I want to thank those who have pointed out my mistakes and helped me grow. Please continue to encourage me, and remind me of my flaws. In today’s era of mass communication, we no longer lack knowledge or information, but what truly matters is how we live with and support one another.

To my fellow graduates, may we all cherish those in our lives who point out our mistakes yet choose to stay by our side.

各位午安，我是袁浩俊，Joshua，是今年宗教研究及哲學學院博士畢業生。我在聖若瑟大學六年的學習中，完成了碩士和博士學位。

我從小接受內地的教育，直到18歲，來澳求學之前，我未試過和外國人講過一句英文，我未讀過一本哲學書，更未曾想過走學術的路。與大多數的學士畢業生一樣，當時我憧憬著事業一帆風順，之後成家立業，兒孫滿堂。然而，我偏偏選擇了學術研究的道路。

首先，我想感謝那位鼓勵我讀書，啟發我追求靈修生活，並一路指引和支持我的契爺——袁偉明神父。感謝您對我的悉心栽培，否則我不會選擇學術研究這條路，也不會有今天的人生成長與收穫。

學術研究與人生成長離不開那些願意指出你錯誤的人，尤其是那些不厭其煩地陪伴你找出錯處，甚至花時間幫助你改正的人。在這六年裡，我很幸運能遇到我的論文導師，也是我們的校長——麥侍文教授。

我仍記得六年前第一次見面時，您拿著紅筆修改我寫的兩頁紙，連標點符號幾乎全篇都是紅色的。六年後，當我拿著裝訂好的論文走進您的辦公室，您拿起的不是紅筆，而是黑色簽字筆。簽完名字後，您問我：“Are you happy with that?” 當時，我只回答了簡單的一句“Yes”，因為不知道如何表達心底的喜悅。現在，我想藉此機會，向您表達我的感激之情。

在座的各位，如果你們一生中能遇到一個人，他願意在看清你的缺點後，仍然陪伴你成長，請好好珍惜這個人。不論是在友情、親情還是愛情中，這樣的人，絕對值得你去愛。

Hello everyone! I am Saka Tang, a Master of Social Work graduate from the Faculty of Health Sciences. I feel honored and grateful to share my thoughts with all of you here today. During these two years of learning, we have faced many challenges and experienced valuable growth. I am thankful for the companionship and encouragement of many mentors and friends who have helped us break through ourselves and move towards a new stage in life.

Fisrt and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our professors, as well as all the faculty members and staff at the university. Your guidance, support, and assistance have enabled us to continually grow during this journey and taught us to face difficulties and challenges with a positive attitude. Your teachings and inspirations have not only enriched our professional knowledge but also taught us how to think and explore unknown territories. These will be the most valuable assets in our careers.

Looking back on these two years of learning, we have experienced the busy life of working during the day, attending classes at night, rushing through assignments on holidays, and discussing group projects with team members in limited time. Although this journey has been challenging, it has also been incredibly fulfilling. During this time, we have overcome many difficulties together, with the most unforgettable and profound experiences being the days and nights spent analyzing data and rushing to complete papers. It is through our mutual tolerance, support, and encouragement that we have the motivation to continue moving forward. Here, we have not only learned knowledge but also realized the importance of teamwork.

As a registered social worker in Macau, the Master of Social Work programme is closely related to my work. This programme has provided a rich knowledge base covering various aspects of social work practice and person-centered services. Over the two years of study, I have not only strengthened my ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical work but also broadened my ability to analyze individual and social issues from diverse perspectives. It has further enhanced my practical skills in integrating social policies and regulations with existing social resources to explore feasible solutions with clients.

Here, we also want to thank our families, friends, and all those who have silently supported us. It is your love and understanding that have allowed us to focus on learning, overcome challenges, and complete this challenging journey. Your encouragement has always been the driving force behind our perseverance.

Today’s conclusion marks the beginning of another new journey. Wherever we may be in the future, whatever roles we may assume, we will carry the knowledge, skills, and values we have learned here and strive to bring about positive changes in society. We will continue to learn, remember our original intentions, and become better social workers.

Lastly, I wish everyone health, happiness, and family bliss. I wish all graduates a bright future and promising prospects. I also wish the university continued success and even more prosperous development! And finally, we have graduated.

大家好！我是健康科學學院社會工作碩士畢業生鄧倩愉（Saka Tang），我深感榮幸和感恩可以在這裡向在座的各位分享我的感受。在這兩年的學習旅程中，我們面臨了許多挑戰，也獲得了寶貴的成長。在這段旅程中，感謝有許多良師益友的陪伴與鼓勵，使我們得以突破自我，邁向人生新的階段。

首先，在這向我們的導師們以及全校所有的教職員、行政人員、工作人員表達衷心的感謝。您們的教導、支持和協助，讓我們在這段旅程中不斷茁壯成長，並學會以積極的態度面對困難和挑戰。您們的教導和啟發，不僅豐富了我們的專業知識，更教會我們如何思考、探索未知的領域。這些將成為我們職業生涯中最寶貴的資產。

回顧這兩年的學習時光，我們經歷了日間工作、夜晚上課，節假日趕功課，還要在有限的時間裡與組員商討小組作業的忙碌生活。這段旅程雖然充滿挑戰，但也格外充實。在這段時間裡，我們一起克服了許多困難，最令人難忘、印象最深刻莫過於沒日沒夜跑數據和趕論文的經驗。正因為彼此的互相包容、支持和鼓勵，我們才有動力繼續向前。在這裡，我們不僅學到知識，更體會到團隊合作的重要性。

作為本澳一名註冊社工，社會工作碩士課程與我的工作息息相關。這個課程提供了豐富的知識體系，涵蓋社會工作實務及人本服務的各個層面。在兩年的學習過程中，我不僅加強了將理論知識應用於實際工作的能力，擴寬了從多元視角分析個人及社會問題的能力。也進一步提升了結合社會政策法規和現有社會資源，與個案共同探索可行解決方案的實務能力。

在這我們也要感謝家人、朋友以及所有默默支持我們的人。是你們的愛與包容，讓我們能夠專注於學習，克服困難，完成這段充滿挑戰的旅程。你們的鼓勵始終是我們堅持下去的動力。

今天的結束是另一段新旅程的開始。無論未來我們身在何處，擔任何種角色，我們都會帶著在這裡所學的知識、技能和價值觀，努力為社會帶來積極的改變。我們會持續學習，不忘初衷，成為更優秀的社會工作者。
